The brain and biological autoluminescence: An overview of empirical findings and theoretical considerations

Abstract

In my talk, I will review the available experimental evidence for biological autoluminescence (BAL) in the brain, spanning published measurements from various research groups investigating both animals and humans. Furthermore, I will examine theoretical work regarding the existence of BAL in the brain and its potential biological functions. Finally, I will offer an outlook on future experimental and theoretical avenues in this field.
