Abstract

Metal nanoclusters and plasmonic materials have gained significant attention in biomedical research due to their exceptional physicochemical properties, outstanding biocompatibility, and tunable fluorescence characteristics. Usage of ligands like amino acids, peptides, and proteins not only enable precise control over the synthesis and stabilization of these clusters but also enhance their biological specificity and versatility. In bioimaging, the tunable fluorescence emission of metal clusters allows for high-resolution optical imaging with minimal toxicity. Additionally, the strategic selection of ligands and further functionalization, when required, enable sensitive and selective interactions with biomolecules, facilitating efficient biosensing of disease biomarkers. The synthesis, stabilization, and multifunctional applications of amino acid stabilized gold nanoclusters in bioimaging and therapeutic domains and the development of SERS platform using plasmonic materials, integrated with machine learning algorithms for the diagnosis of blood-based biomarkers of Alzheimer’s Disease will be discussed
